Slick Rick

By GRN | November 18, 2008

Despite numerous setbacks, Slick Rick is still the Ruler. The Bronx-via-Britain resident has kept things fresh since the late ’80s, releasing classic tracks like “La-Di-Da-Di,” “Mona Lisa,” and “Children’s Story” as well as collaborating with hip-hop luminaries like Nas, Raekwon, and Snoop Dogg. Recently pardoned by Governor David Paterson over immigration issues stemming from his previous arrests, tonight’s performance finds Rick with new material and support from a full live band — but he’s sure to lean heavily on the classics. Throwback rappers the Retro Kidz open, bringing good vibes and high-top fades to the party.
